Our volunteers have diverse experiences and help with a variety of tasks. Responsibilities are designed to accommodate all schedules and levels of commitment. From a day of service with your work or church group to a regular, scheduled volunteer shift, we can tailor a volunteering experience which enhances your life.

Volunteer Positions available at Forbes House
Childcare Volunteer
- Age requirement: 18 years or older.
- Tasks: Spend time with the children at Forbes House during the Sunday evening house meeting and Thursday Night DV 101 Meeting. By watching the children in the playroom, parents get some needed time to work on themselves.
Skills: Experience in childcare mandatory, patience, reliabilty - Time: 1 hour once a week
- Ideal for individuals or pairs
Community Education/Outreach Volunteer
- Age requirement: 18 years or older.
- Tasks: Share information about Forbes House and domestic violence at events; drop off flyers to businesses; staff booths at community fairs/festivals and events.
Skills: Ability to make conversation with strangers, effective public speaking, interpersonal skills - Time: As needed, scheduled shifts during events
- Ideal for individuals or pairs
Donations Volunteer
- Age requirement: 21 years or older.
- Tasks: Organize clothing, hygiene products, and food donations; create and maintain an inventory of items; check for expired or lesser-used items.
Skills: Strong organization skills, initiative, reliability, strong communication skills - Time: Regular weekly or twice-monthly commitment
- Ideal for individuals or pairs
Playroom Volunteer
- Age requirement: 18 years or older.
- Tasks: Organize playroom toys and books; put out new toys and remove old playroom items; sanitize toys and games.
- Skills: Strong organizational skills, initiative, ability to work independently
- Time: Regular twice-monthly or monthly commitment
