Safe at Home Program

Advocates at Forbes House can help you apply for the Ohio Safe at Home Program. This program allows you to keep your address confidential due to domestic violence, stalking, human trafficking, rape or sexual battery. Forbes House advocates are now certified application assistants! Safe at Home is an address confidentiality program that allows victims of domestic violence, stalking, human trafficking, rape or sexual battery to apply for an address designated by the Secretary of State to serve as the person’s address to shield their residence address from public records, including voter registration lists.*

How Does the Program Work?

When someone enrolls in Safe at Home, they are assigned a P.O. Box address. There are many entities that may have a person’s name and address on file, and a program participant may request that any governmental or private entity, except for a municipal-owned public utility or the board of elections, use the P.O. Box address designated by the SOS as the participant’s address. The law does not require a private entity to accept the SOS-designated address, but a state of Ohio governmental entity shall accept it.*

Tackle Domestic Violence Event a Success

Thank you to all of the people who supported Forbes House and Tackle Domestic Violence during our awareness event on October 7! This fun event featured a Chinese Raffle, wine pull, 50/50 raffle, T-shirt sales and Purple Purse charms. Thank you to event sponsors The Wild Goose and Frank & Tony’s Place. The City of Willoughby lit up the trees along the Erie Street and the gazebo in the park to show their support for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. A great time was had by all and we raised funds to support survivors in our communities!
